What do I need to know about holiday shipping delays this year?
FedEx, USPS and UPS are handling an unprecedented amount of packages this holiday season. We trust these recognizable carriers to do the best job possible when delivering your order. We have found, however, that this time of year may lead to packages becoming delayed or sometimes even lost in transit. We cannot control the volume of packages being delivered by these carriers anymore than we can control the weather. Sometimes delays happen. Please anticipate longer shipping times when you place an order from mid November to mid January.
What if I need my order to be delivered by Christmas?
In order to protect our customers to the best of our ability, we always provide a tracking number with every shipment. In addition to that, we advise that for anything you NEED BY CHRISTMAS MORNING, place your order BY DECEMBER 10th. We believe this gives our customers the greatest likelihood that, in spite of weather and delays, your VMC package SHOULD be delivered before Christmas morning. Of course, if you place your order after December 10th it may still reach you before Christmas, but the volume of packages being delivered by the carrier service and the weather are out of our hands. At VMC we want you to have the best possible chance for receiving your delivery before Christmas. This is why, again, we urge our customers to place Christmas orders by Dec 10th, if possible.
Why not just pay extra for Express Shipping a day or two before Christmas?
If you end up placing your order closer to Christmas Day, PLEASE DO NOT RELY ON EXPRESS SHIPPING FOR DELIVERY BY CHRISTMAS MORNING. You are welcome to request Express Shipping on eligible packages but please understand that even packages with Express Shipping may experience delays this time of year. Delivery drivers for FedEx, UPS and USPS are working hard and we appreciate all that they do, but please understand that in some cases Express Deliveries may not be possible.
Again, even packages with Express Shipping may experience delays this time of year.
Are you still offering same day shipping during the holidays?
Throughout our busy holidays we will still offer our regular same day shipping. All orders that are put in by 3pm CST Monday through Friday (excluding holidays) will be shipped out same day, with the tracking number automatically sent to your e-mail as usual. Just to be cautious, we advise even with a tracking number, time of delivery estimations should be read with anticipation of possible delays.
